Requesting Client Authorization and Creating Listings
You cannot screen applicants or publish a listing for a landlord until they authorize you. This article covers requesting that authorization, what each access level unlocks, and creating a listing on a client's behalf.
Requesting authorization
Enter the landlord's email and pick the access you are requesting, then click Request authorization. If that email already has a VerticalRent account, the landlord sees your request the next time they open their account. If it doesn't, VerticalRent emails them an invite.
- Full — listings and screening — you can create listings on their units and screen applicants for them
- Listings only — you can create listings, but not order screening
- Read only — the relationship is recorded, but you cannot list or screen yet
Each relationship shows a status: pending (the landlord has not responded), accepted, or revoked. Only an accepted relationship unlocks the Screen and Create listing actions below — and only at the scope the landlord accepted, which may differ from what you originally requested.
Once a landlord accepts
Buttons appear next to that client depending on the accepted scope:
- Screen applicants for [landlord] — only on a full-scope relationship. Takes you to Screening for that specific landlord. See Screening Applicants for Your Clients.
- Create a listing for [landlord] — on full or listings-only scope. Opens a form to pick one of the landlord's vacant units without an existing listing, then set a title, description, and available date.
Screening also needs your own verification
Ending a relationship
End relationship with [landlord] asks you to confirm, then immediately removes your access to screen or list for that landlord. This does not delete history — leads you already tracked for that client stay on your Leads ledger.
Without Platinum
Clients works the same on Free and Platinum. A Platinum panel on this page explains what Platinum adds elsewhere — pick-and-choose client reports and featured directory placement — but requesting authorization, screening the full bundle, and creating listings all work without it.
