Getting Paid: Stripe Connect and the Platform Fee

VerticalRent never holds your money. Landlords pay completed jobs directly, and Stripe Connect routes your share straight to your bank account. This article covers connecting your account, how the platform fee works, and reading your Earnings page.

Connecting your bank account

Quoting and accepting jobs both work before you connect Stripe — only getting paid on a completed job requires it. From Settings → Payouts, click Connect Bank Account to start Stripe's hosted onboarding. You will be redirected to Stripe to securely enter your business and bank details, then returned to VerticalRent.

Once connected, the Payouts page shows:

  • Your bank name and last 4 digits (once Stripe provides them)
  • Receiving payments / Payments pending — whether Stripe has enabled charges on your account
  • Payouts enabled / Payouts pending — whether Stripe can send money to your bank yet

If onboarding was left unfinished, a banner links you back to Continue Setup. Update Account and View Stripe Dashboard links let you revisit your Stripe details any time.

How the platform fee works

VerticalRent takes a 3% platform fee on every completed job, on Free and Platinum alike — Platinum changes when you see matched jobs (first look), not the fee. When you mark a job complete with a billed amount, you get a breakdown like:

  • Total billed — what you charged the landlord
  • Platform fee (3%) — VerticalRent's cut
  • Your payout — the remaining 97%, sent to your connected account after the landlord pays

How fast you get paid

Landlords pay completed jobs by card through Stripe, and funds typically arrive in your bank within 1–2 business days after they pay.

Job pay status

A completed job shows one of three pay statuses, on My Jobs, the job detail page, and Earnings:

  • Needs Stripe setup — you have not connected Stripe yet; the landlord cannot pay until you do
  • Awaiting payment — Stripe is ready, but the landlord has not paid yet
  • Paid — the landlord paid and funds were sent to your connected account

Reading your Earnings page

Four stat cards summarize your history:

  • Total Earned — your payout across every completed job, ever
  • This Month — payout from jobs completed in the current calendar month
  • Pending Payout — the estimated payout from jobs still in progress plus any completed jobs not yet paid
  • Jobs Completed — your lifetime completed-job count

Below the stats, a Payment History table lists every completed job with its total, platform fee, your payout, and pay status, plus a running total at the bottom — the same numbers you see on each job's downloaded PDF invoice.
