Your Renter Dashboard: What Each Section Shows

Your renter dashboard is a single home base for applications, your lease, rent, and maintenance. Every card is driven by your real data — nothing shows up unless it applies to you. Here's exactly what each section means and what makes it appear.

Home snapshot (top banner)

The banner at the top changes based on whether you have a signed, active lease:

• With an active lease — shows each home you rent with its monthly rent, plus one of two states for rent: a Rent due or Overdue rent pill with the amount and due date (tap it to jump straight to paying), or an "All caught up — no payments due" banner when nothing is owed.
• Without an active lease — shows how many applications you have in progress, or a prompt to find your next home or claim your free rental report if you haven't started anything yet.

Lease next steps

Right after a lease is signed and active, a green checklist appears with the setup tasks left for that home:

• Save your executed lease — download the signed PDF (only shown if a lease document exists).
• Set up rent autopay or pay manually— only shown if rent is currently due on that lease and autopay isn't already active.
• Report maintenance issues anytime — always shown, links straight to a new maintenance request.

Quick actions

Four shortcut tiles sit below the banner:

• Find a Rental — jump to listings search.
• Pay Rent— shows the exact amount currently due (or "No balance due"), with a red Late badge if a payment is overdue.
• My Reports— shows "View your report" once you've ordered one, or a green Free badge and "Free report available" if you haven't claimed your free rental history report yet.
• Roommates — jump to roommate matching.

Free rental report callout

A dashed callout — "Get Your Free Rental Report" — appears only until you order your first rental history report. It bundles an SSN trace and address history report you can share with landlords to stand out.

Applications

Your three most recent applications, each showing the property, monthly rent, and a status pill: Payment Due (if the application fee is unpaid), Submitted, In Review, Screening, Screened, Approved ✓, Denied, or Withdrawn. This section only appears once you have at least one application on file; view all of them from View all applications.

Payment History

Your three most recent rent payments, each with the property, due date, amount, and a status pill (Due, Paid, Late, Failed, Refunded). Tap any row to open its receipt (once paid) or statement (if still unpaid). This section only appears once you have at least one rent charge on record.

Maintenance

Shows your open maintenance requests (up to three, with status: Open, Assigned, In Progress) when you have any. With none open, you'll see a "No open requests" prompt to report a repair instead. Either way, there's always a link to submit a new request or view your full maintenance history.

Recent Activity

Your five most recent notifications — screening updates, payment confirmations, application and lease changes, messages, and maintenance updates — with a red count badge for anything unread. Only appears once you have notifications; view everything from View all notifications.

Ask John

A prompt at the bottom of the dashboard reminds you that John, VerticalRent's AI assistant, is available anytime for free advice on your rental situation — look for the chat icon in the bottom corner of the app.
